1st day of school :)

We started school a little bit late this year (the public schools started on August 21st) due to the move, but we don't usually take days off for Holiday's, at least not as many as the public schools do, so I'm sure we'll finish on schedule.

We decided to go with K12 this year, I needed something cheap, planned and assistance as needed, K12 fits the bill. These are two pictures of all the books we received yesterday, we have two more boxes coming next week with at least 3 more books in them. I missed the shot of "my" books, behind the box by M's feet...

You will have to trust me when I say that I was overwhelmed with all of the materials, Holy Cow!

But we jumped in today and it went rather well :) I can see that it will be challenging with three different grade levels, but I think we'll figure it out soon. I am loving that we are doing all the same things public school kids are doing but in the level that the kids are on. M is doing mostly 3rd grade work, though he's in 2nd grade and LittleMan is doing 1st grade math, though he's in Kindergarten. L is on level, doing 5th grade work, but they gave me lots of idea's on how to challenge her in the Language Arts department since she is above grade level in several areas.

And to think, just yesterday I was feeling fairly settled with the living room, we get 9 boxes of things and wham-o the room is a disaster once again :P.

An unexpected bonus to homeschooling...

My kids are very negative and it drives me batty. So I decided that as part of their handwriting practice, or L's journaling, I'd have them write about things they like.

I told M to pick one person a day, from our family, and write 3 things he liked about them. Today was my turn...

"I like mom because I love her and she loves me a lot and becaues she plays with me a lot."

Too cute!

Yesterday was dad's turn...

"I like dad becaues he is cool. And because I love him. And because he plays with me a lot."

I can't wait to see what he says about his siblings, hehe.

No, I'm not crazy.

I'm going to start homeschooling my kids. I have thought about it a lot for the last few weeks. The more unsatisfied I am with the kids school, the more I want to do something about it. M calls me daily and asks me to pick him up, his "tummy hurts", we've done everything we can think of to "fix" it and nothing is helping.

I know I can do a great job and feel like this is the best thing for us to do. I've immersed myself in everything home school related. I have books on how to transition, books on what level they should be at, what the differnt types of techniques are.

I'm going to start Little Man as well. So we'll get all three kids going and catching up to where they should be as well as advancing in areas they love.

I'm excited and ready to go. Though we will wait until January so I can finish my finals and get everything all set up. L can't wait to start many craft projects that we just haven't had time for, as well as baking! M just wants to be home where things can be faster paced and he can wiggle from time to time ;). Little Man has no idea what is going on, haha.
